What
exactly is BatteryLast?
BatteryLast is a patent-pending new
anti-vibration/shock-reducing device that is constructed from a
proprietary visco-elastic polymer material.
BatteryLast is a
specially formulated, energy absorbing material. It combines shock
absorption, good material memory, vibration isolation and vibration
dampening characteristics. While many materials exhibit one of these
characteristics, BatteryLast combines all of them in a stable product with
a long fatigue life over a very wide operating temperature range, (even
down to –30° F). It functions well in harsh chemical environments and is
resistant to gasoline fumes, diesel fuel, kerosene and water. Unlike
fluid-based shock absorbers or foam products, BatteryLast absorbs shock
efficiently for millions of cycles…it will most likely outlive your
vehicle!
BatteryLast converts mechanical shock and
vibration into heat. Whenever BatteryLast is flexed under load, the
molecular friction generates heat. The “lost energy” that results is a
thermo-dynamic nonlinear phenomenon called “hysteresis.” High hysteresis
is necessary for the most efficient impact absorption. BatteryLast removes
most of the impact energy. Natural rubber or urethane is more elastic and
returns energy instead of absorbing it. This causes high rebound and
increases the damaging effects on your battery.

The energy is translated perpendicularly away
from the axis of incidence and its effect is pushed nearly 90° out of
phase from the original disturbance. This phase shift, known as “Tan
Delta,” is a measure of BatteryLast’s damping effectiveness. The higher
the value of Tan Delta, the greater the amount of damping that occurs.

High dampening in a polymer reduces the
impulse peak of a shock wave over a longer time frame. BatteryLast reduces
the impact force by up to 94.7% and brings the battery mass slowly to
rest. A gradual deceleration affords better protection for your battery. BatteryLast
exhibits very low rebound when compared to other materials, such as rubber
or urethane.

BatteryLast “Eats” Shock and Vibration!
Talk
about vibration and shock! 600 hp at 12,000 rpm. These racecar designers
needed both shock absorption and vibration isolation in the same material.
The BatteryLast material was also utilized on this racecar to absorb axial
and lateral forces generated at speeds in excess of 180 mph. Shock and
vibration are minimized so that the on-board TV camera can focus cleanly.
Since all of the major battery
manufacturers will concede the fact that vibration and shock are among the
top causes (or some say it’s the number one cause) for battery
failure, BatteryLast is the logical solution to a problem that has existed
since batteries were first introduced…some two hundred years ago!
Why
haven’t battery manufacturers done this before?
In an ever-increasingly
competitive market, adding cost to a product is generally not acceptable
to most big corporations. Instead of being the “first” out there with a
radical new design feature, most companies would rather wait for the
technology to become more commonplace and for the consumer to make a
strong demand for it.
Case in Point:
Michelin invented the radial tire in 1946. It did not become “standard
equipment” on new cars until the Lincoln Continental MK III in 1970, more
than two decades later. Now, almost six decades later, try to find a car
without radial tires…the consumer wouldn’t buy it! We invented the BatteryLast, and we’ve filed for U.S. and International Patents on our
discoveries. Who knows, maybe fifty years from now, you’ll see them as
standard equipment on all new batteries! But, in the meantime, we have
engineered specific design configurations to fit each specific battery
application.
BatteryLast is computer-designed for each specific application.
No matter what your application, there’s a
